Re: [android-developers] Android Life Cycle

What is packaged into .apk is the .dex file, Dalvik's byte code, not Java byte code.  Upon install, the .apk's dex code is optimized and linked to the platform it will be running on, which results in an .odex file placed in the filesystem in /data/dalvik-cache/.

Hi

I am curious to know how the Java code gets convert as an Android App ?

My understanding is Java -- > Byte Code -- > APK --> dex (Dalvik)

That is, Java code will be converted as a Byte Code when we compile and then it will be packaged as a APK (Android Project). When we install APK into any Android OS it will be consumed as a .dex ?
