The true irony is I'm not paying close attention when it doesn't work, so I can't reproduce it exactly. When I open up your app I want my radar NOW!, so when it doesn't work I'm not the best judge of reproducibility. :)
Next time it doesn't work, I'll try to recall the circumstances... off hand, it seems to be a cell->wifi (or vice-versa) handoff situation.
