I haven't had an opportunity yet.

Based on the instructions, I think the intersection of developers
interested in Google TV and able+willing to go through the setup
process approaches the null set.

I would presume it's a bug in the pre-release AVD. Quoting the docs:

> You only need to set the SD Card size when you are testing local media storage. Larger SD card sizes cause the emulator to run progressively slower.
