[android-developers] I'm wanting to start doing a lot with the Android platform, help

I love Linux and Google and everything open source and of course this platform. I'm currently completely new to programming I've done next to nothing with Python (Is that even a good starting language? for someone interested in Android) All feedback on what I should do to start with getting started on this are majorly appreciated so thanks in advance.
