Your terminology is strange. An Intent is not something is open and closed. It sounds like you mean you start a new Activity (via an Intent), which pauses and stops your app, including your video, and you want to resume said video when the Activity that was started is finished.

In this case your onStart() and onResume() functions would be called. You would check there if your video is playing and if not, start playing it.
