That's what i thought you're doing and i'm not sure why... Thats just a synced folder which is nice, but its not using the real purpose of SVN - versioning... 

If its already on SVN, all you need to do to access it on the Laptop is just Checkout the code and thats it... then any update can be commited or merged easily (and still be "available offline").

Not sure I get what you're asking ...

Making it shareable allows me to access it on my laptop. Then I mark it "available offline" and can operate on the repo as if it were local to the laptop while away from the home network.
