[android-developers] Dragging a randomly moving animation

I need to drag an animation that is moving randomly within a small rectangle around the drag point. (If the image - a small cross - hits the side of the rectangle it will change direction and if not it will change direction after a countdown timer finishes.)

When the cross is dropped the coordinates will be used to place another small image but the coordinates need to be translated into a global coordinate. In my current code they are relative to an existing scaled container. The image replacing the cross at the drop site is not in the same scaled container as the cross.

My question is how do I drag the moving animation? Is it best to create a container as a fragment? ... surfaceview? ...a framelayout? ...a special class?

And secondly how can I get a global translation of the drop point?

Thanks for any insights or suggestions!
