Here's my understanding of how it works. If this is incorrect, someone
please correct me. "Just In" is gone. I got that directly from Market
support. Market support guy told me that "Top New Paid" and "Top New
Free" *ARE* "Just In". HOWEVER, what I've heard from other devs, in
other forums, is that this is anything but true...and my observations
confirm the latter.
I released my LWP app Friday at approximately 1700 local. It was visible
just long enough to get one paid install about 4 hours (+/- a few
minutes) later. After that, however, it was gone. I looked through both
the Top New Paid and the Apps//Personalization (there is no upload
category for Live Wallpapers now, though the category itself is still
there). It was not in either listing. Needless to say, installs
ceased...dead. For some reason, people can't see my app anymore. I
can't imagine why; they should just "know" it's there and buy/install
it, right?
So, why did this happen? Here's my theory (again, based on other posts
in another forum, in this list, and my observations): I uploaded my LWP.
It started out with zero downloads and zero ratings. That does not
qualify as Top anything, nor does the one download I got before it
vanished. Therefore, next market update, it's gone. It's back online
now...but not in the Android/google market.... Will I get any sales
there? It can't hurt, given that I'm hardly likely to get any from the
usual market.
Yeah, I'm extremely frustrated by all of this. Sorry, but that's just
how it is. I feel like I've been denied all hope of ever keeping any
new app that I build listed on the market. And from what I've read, I
HAVE been. Someone PLEASE explain how this is a Good Thing for me or
for any other individual developer without a pre-established history of
massively-popular apps.... And how are we now supposed to work towards
eventually (hopefully) establshing that history, when, by google's design,
now, our apps are only visible for a few hours?
Later,
