[android-developers] IllegalStateException: Scheme 'https' not registered.

I've started getting occassional instances of
IllegalStateException: Scheme 'https' not registered.
from some users when they are downloading some content using
HttpClient, but I can't reproduce it.

I understand what the message means, but the content is available from
a http address, not a https one, so I don't understand why the message
is being generated. While I could register the https scheme, I don't
have any credentials to provide since it is not a secure location so I
don't know whether registering will work and since I can't reproduce
it myself I feel a bit stuck.

Anyone know why I would be getting this error and how to avoid it for
a http address?

Full stacktrace is:
