Little bit of extra info: I've encountered this issue on ics emulator. Calling getValue immediately before call to setSummary shows that correct value has been commited.
This bug is over 2 years old; surprised it's still around. It's issues like this that waste developer's time and subsequently hamper the uptake of android.
