Actually I am showing lot of data in the listview of main activity and I do not want to reload data for listview on exit. So I am willing to send app to background.

Well, honestly, that's not really a valid case for this. Keeping your app running in the background after a user has chosen to leave it is not up to you, it's up to the OS. Would *you* want an app on your device to remain running eating up a large amount of memory after you thought you'd left it? You're just asking for angry users and 1-star complaints.

Regardless, there's really no way to do this - the OS will kill your app eventually whether you want it or not to reclaim memory, and if your app is in the background eating a lot of memory, it probably becomes an even bigger target for being killed anyway.
