This is a matter of opinion. What is your time worth? Do you you have better things to do with your time that trying to fight piracy? Do you believe enough people will try to pirate your app to justify the time, effort, and issues that come from adding licensing checks? Is it a matter of principal for you to do everything you can to prevent people from copying your app?
Personally, I don't think the effort is worth it and have not bothered. Again, matter of opinion.
At the end of the day i'm not trying to make millions, just want to cover my hosting costs.
If your app has a server component, you can do some basic and trivial server-side checks that don't require fancy licensing logic on the app side.
Also, if i download an app from the market is the apk copied locally to the mobile device or is it removed after install?
What?
